Speaking of gadgets - the Chamber Horse

I saw this on Rick Steve's Europe the other night and thought of the discussion on failed gadgets.

From an estate in England, I bring you the Chamber Horse. Starts around 8:40.

 Thank you for posting! I'm a Jane Austen geek and her unfinished novel Sanditon mentions a chamber-horse. I always pictured something like a pommel horse but never actually knew what it was - now I do! (And I didn't really think the ladies were doing gymnastics, so I was confused. This actually makes more sense, in a Victorian kinda' way.)

It looks like the precursor to some sort of Pilates apparatus.

you can accomplish the same move on a stability ball - in fact, my HR goes up pretty high. you don't need handle bars to do it either. i learned this cardio move from a stability ball workout - i can't remember. but you do get a cardio workout with the stability ball doing this move. just sit, and stand and back down again.
