Oh yeah, to keep the sun out of her eyes? Or maybe she didn't want to be recognized in that leotard...

OMG yes, here she is on our right (not to mention the guy in the teeny midriff top and short shorts ) :

ETA - Oh and Peggy Lipton (late of Mod Squad and Twin Peaks) on our left... she was, like, the Gwyneth Paltrow of her day!

I just caught that comment in the Advanced workout about following Peggy Lipton. I tried to get a good luck at her, but I was blinded by the Brigitte Nielsen clone's leopard print leggings.

And if you're looking for a good copy, be prepared to stay on the prowl for awhile. The Workout Challenge I got from an amazon.com seller is in near perfect condition. The New Workout I got from another amazon.com seller was advertised as "like new" condition, but it's in pretty bad shape. I'm hoping I can return it.

You guys are awesome for trying to help me figure this out!

Those pictures in the Easy Going/Prime Time video look interesting. Meaning.....that video looks like it would ba a hot commodity if it were released today (plie's, etc.) but, sadly, that's not my video.

The one with the platinum blond/leopard stripe/sun visored exercisor....now THAT could be it! Seriously. It could.

Her site is so confusing: Her outfits, the video names, the pictures and the video covers are all so similar. And it looks like she wears different things in the same video.

I really would have thought that I would have been able to pick my little video right out. But no.

I am really starting to think it is the JF New Workout. I just wish I could see more video of it. What I have found on Youtube (with the exception of a small video clip that is named Jane Fonda Abs (NEW WORKOUT) where she is in her blue leotard and doing only abdominal work.....and THIS is the video that I THINK might be MY video??) I just don't recall enough visually to be certain. If I saw her in that blue leotard doing arm circles and outer thigh raises.......I would be set : )

Thanks everyone.

It's fun to look at the old clips (and to see that what is old is new again)

Hey, thanks for posting this! I couldn't remember which Jane F I started with. It was the original workout!

I do think that the problem with expecting these moves to give anyone the body of the participants is that they're professional dancers--they were largely chosen because they already had the right genetics. These moves (along with all of their dance training) give them that body, but it's not clear that someone with different genetics (and not all that dance training) would get the same.

Jane might have picked people with slender bodies to appear in her videos, but they weren't all professional dancers. Where did you read that, Kimberly?

(I loved "The Mod Squad", but decided I didn't care much for Peggy Lipton after reading her autobiobraghy. She's probably better known these days as Rashida Jones' mother.)

Also, people tend to do what their bodies are best suited for: tall people go out for basketball, heavy people become wrestlers and so on. As anyone who took dance classes in childhood knows, those without the "dancer body type" get culled out or discouraged pretty early on.

I'd never seen all of that video before, and I was agog at how flexible Jane is! (Check out the beginner cooldown where Jane does a full plow, wraps her knees around her ears and tells everyone to "relax" - ROFL!!)

If you were doing arm circles than it had to be one of her first workouts put out. All the following workouts had arm circles in them:

Jane Fonda's Oriiginal Workout {Beginner}
Jand Fonda's Original Workout {Advanced} Both workouts on the same tape.
In these workouts there were no extended aerobics {as you can see on youtube} only a few minutes of jumping. Also, don't know if anybody has ever picked up on this one but, if you have a really good copy of the tape, you can hear that they were playing the same music while filming but, they relaid it over in post-porduction or post-mixing {whatever its called}. What is playing in the background {you have to realy listen to hear it} isn't whats coming thru our speakers. Hope that makes sense. LOL! Floorwork made up most of these 2 workouts.

Jand Fonda's New Workout {Beginner} She is wearing a cloudy blueish leotard with a small belt around it.
Jane Fonda's New Workout {Advanced}. She's wearing a darker blue leotard. Both workouts are on the same tape.
In the New Workout, Leslie Lillian sings the song "Do It" thru the arm segments where they do aerobics and do lots of isometric arm circles etc. I believe its the Advanced Workout were the woman has the half purple top and yellow shorts....she wears a white hat as well. There was great floorwork in these 2 workouts.

Jane Fonda's Pregnancy Workout: She does arm circles in this workout as well. There was floorwork in these workouts as well.

Jame Fonda's Prime Time or Easy Going Workout. Arm circles in this one as well.

Jane Fonda's Challenge: FABULOUS!!!!!!!! To this day I still LOVE this workout!!!! Anyway, lots of arm circles in this one and I dare anybody to do those arm circles today and not get sore. Jane wears a blue and grey stripe leotard and is joined by two guys one of which teaches the aerobics segment. Peter Dudley is his name I believe and Greg Gonzaulas {sp} is the other guys name.

Awesome floorwork in The Challenge as well as great barre work.

Jane Fonda's Start Up Workout: This workout is about 25 minutes and has some arm circles in it. Peter Dudley joined her again in this one but was only in the background if I remember right. This workout was intended to be a morning or an evening lite workout.

All her other workouts after these, there were no arm circles. They were either all aerobics or they did weight training for arm work.

Can you tell I'm a big fan of Jane Fonda's Workouts? LOL!

OH MY GOSH!!!! I never noticed this before!!
Watch this clip:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJNmk...eature=related

Listen close, they are counting in sets of eight. At one point you can hear a guy counting up to eight...its when the girl in the light green leotard puts her leg in the air.

They are counting, the 2 girls in front are doing the hand held lunges and just before they do the "V-Sit" to make the letter "W", you can her a few of them say "EIGHT!" and in the strong music comes.

Thank you so much for this walk down memory lane!! Like her or dislike her, she is the one who innovated the home exercise market. I like Jane, she is an all time fave of mine and was/is a big influence on me as an instructor. I think she would be so cool to meet and talk to.
