Those of you who do weights and TA

Hi Everyone,

This question is for all of you who use both weights and Tracy Anderson, do you do your weights or weight routine before or after TA? Im confused as to the order. Im asking because years ago I went on the stairmaster after a private pilates session and the teacher came out and yelled at me that I would "undo" all the work pilates had done on my body...I am not kidding..

While I know pilates and TA are different methods (I have experience in both), I don't want to ruin the TA results so Im hoping those with experience with both might chime in with your experiences.

I do TA then whatever I'm doing, unless I feel what else I'm doing is going to be very shoulder intensive, then I might switch it up. For example, I've done P90X3/TA - and for something like Isometrix which is holding poses (every other one is a plank pose) for 45-60 seconds, I would do that first.

I'm sorry you had that experience with the pilates instructor. I've always heard to do what you want to focus on first so you are freshest. But I honestly don't know if it matters.

I do my TA workouts on separate days. My strength days are, Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays, and my TA days are Tuesdays/Thursdays/Saturdays.

I am new to TA, so correct me if I'm wrong, but would her muscle structure work count as strength training? Yes it's not traditional strength training like, let's say, p90x, but isn't the point of doing TA's muscular structure workout to get the classic TA look? Wouldn't doing additional strength with heavier weights defeat that purpose? I am just trying to understand why you would mix the two?

When I did TA in the past I had great overall results, lost a ton of weight and went from a tight size 8 to a 2. I was flexible and very strong, I loved my abs and my legs overall but...... my arms were less than stellar and my butt was not as perky, too flat for my personal taste, although it was much smaller.

Life got in the way and I stopped doing TA, lost all my results, so this time I am adding in 3 days of traditional weight training (inspired by Debbie's results ) just to round things out a bit TA and traditional weight training is the best of both worlds in my opinion.

I agree with this workout schedule. Hard for me to do TA on the same day as strength, since TA is very shoulder, plank, arm intense.

Like Debbie, I also do TA MS work on my cardio days.

gilbjeter, I'm doing this because I'm not going after the TA look. I just like to work my muscles in different ways. I did find that I like doing TA for abs/core.

That makes sense. Thanks for explaining. I am rotating TA Omni with Tonique and Dream Body, so hopefully this will help those other areas!

I've never tried TA, but I am considering starting a TA rotation. I'm curious, when you mention that you lost your results... did you stop working out or did you stop doing TA and did some other type of exercises that resulted un the undoing tof your TA results?
Thanks!
Lorrie

I had surgery, unrelated to fitness, and then my life got super crazy and I stopped working out altogether.

That said, I have found you do have to keep TA around in your rotation if you like her results I'm still experimenting with how often myself, recently I have been averaging 4-5 times a week and it seems often enough to see the TA magic in my arms, quads, and abs
