can someone please explain how this happens???

got this from a jari love tweet a few minutes ago:

She is probably referring to glycogen, which as I understand it, the body uses during strength training. After the glycogen stores are depleted, the body then begins to burn but fat.

Well, glycogen is a form of glucose, and carb is more of a buzz word I guess.

The thing that gets me about this type of statement is 1) it's inaccurate (the body burns both types of fuel, just in different proportions depending on exercise duration and intensity -- plus, once you've depleted available blood glycogen, your ability to utilize fat for fuel ceases entirely), and 2) it's irrelevant, at least in terms of weight/fat loss -- it really doesn't matter which substrate is being used, the relevant consideration is overall calorie expenditure.

I guess it sounds good as marketing hype, though.
