I'm envious. Watching a Christmas DA episode on Christmas Day sounds snowglobe wonderful! .... If I lived in England, and the 3rd series was being filmed up the road from me, I'd be hightailing it over there to watch. Too bad you can't be an extra.

I'd love to watch - but Highclere Castle is closed off to visitors during filming & won't re-open until Easter.

I hope they produce a Christmas special again this year!

Daisy, I'm talking about the more recent one with Damian Lewis (the older one is good too!).

bonbon - thanks
I try not to base my feelings on reviews (people are weird on amazon! LOL).

Lucia - if you mean the one with Richard Armitage: NO!

Thanks, daisysunshine! I will put it in my queue. I liked Wives & Daughters (I read the book first, actually & it was really good, too).

Lucia,

North and South is somewhat depressing, but it has a happy ending!

The only part of the series I don't like is the casting of Elizabeth McGovern for that role. I used to like EM as an actress, but in Downton Abbey her voice is much too monotone - devoid of any real connection to her character. Watching her I'm always aware she's an actress reciting lines given to her. I don't find her as believable as the other actors on the show.
