Since I've hit my 50s I've been going down the YT rabbit hole of skin care recs/regimens mostly from dermatologists. I'm incorporating Vitamin C/sunscreen/moisturizer in the AM and at night using retinol and moisturizer. Today I picked up a Mad Hippie AHA exfoliating peel to use on nights I don't use retinol. I've never used this brand before and hope it works for me. I don't want to get too crazy with skincare products, but ugh, the wrinkles under my eyes bother me. I think my allergies exacerbate them, but I'm hoping to find something that helps. Any recs for eye creams?

You can get an eye cream with retinol, ROC and No. 7 have one. There are eye creams with peptides, I use one by Cetaphil. Cerave and Paula’s Choice also have one.

If you don’t like the Mad Hippie AHA, Paula’s Choice makes a good one.

Number one anti-aging item is sunscreen. Although I don’t put sunscreen under my eyes as it stings. I just hope my concealer protects it! Some sunscreens are gentle enough for the eyes, I need to find one.

What minimizes my wrinkles the most is tretinoin. I don’t put it under my eyes, but I think it migrates a bit from the skin next to it. However, nothing stops the puffiness and sagging. Wearing glasses to hide it helps!

I can use my sunscreen under my eyes, but I'm not particularly sensitive. My skin only reacts to retinol. At night I use a moisturizer with niacinamide (including under my eyes) and I gave up on the retinol.

Sherry- Thanks for the recs for eye creams. I haven't been a fan of the No. 7 products I've tried and I've never tried ROC. I think I might try an eye cream with peptides to use during the day. I have heard many great things about Paula's Choice, but I've never tried their products. I do wear my sunscreen and I've tested MANY of them. Right now I'm using a Pacifica Vitamin C serum with 55 SPF sunscreen which I like, but I think it is being discontinued.

Tretinoin is by prescription only, right? And I do wear glasses and bought a new pair this past fall. However, they are a larger frame than I usually wear and don't seem to disguise my eye wrinkles very well.

Carol- I've heard many say retinol irritates their skin. Luckily I don't seem to have any issues with it. Have you tried Bakuchiol?

Wendy - No, I haven't tried that ingredient. I am very happy with my current, extremely simple regimen.

I think this is OTC? It looks like it's synonymous with Retin-A:

Was it Paula who said that you don't really need a separate eye cream? I recall some beauty expert saying that this was just a racket to sell more products.

I had to switch to a new product when they stopped making the Alpha Hydrox that I'd used for years. After quite a bit of research, I settled on this CeraVe product:

I can't say the results are dramatic, but I do use it under my eyes without irritation, and it seems overall beneficial for my skin.

This product was in 2nd place in my research:

Yes, it was Paula who said that you don't need a separate eye cream, and the original line of Paula's Choice products didn't include an eye cream, but of course, now it does. I still don't feel that I need one.

One way to tolerate retinol or adapalene (Differin) or any retinoid better is to put it on over your moisturizer and then put more moisturizer on top of it. Also, you don't need to use it every day - you can use it as "tolerated" - so once a week to a few times a week.

My skin has changed in recent years and has become more sensitive and prone to dryness. I used to be able to pile the stuff on - BHA, retinol, etc.

I got a little too aggressive this week with trying to "improve" my skin and I'm taking a few days off to let things settle and then remind myself to go slow!

This particular moisturizer by Eucerin is good if you have "over done it"

https://www.eucerinus.com/products/s...in-balance-day

Eucerin really has a lot of nice products - you don't hear much about them, but I find I tolerate their products very well.

I also try not to use too much dimethicone in my skincare. I know it is not "supposed" to clog pores, but if I use a product where it is high up on the ingredient list my pores do look more clogged.

I find that Eucerin and Cetaphil use less dimethicone than other brands and even have products that don't contain it at all.

Yes, I understand. There are SO MANY products available it is overwhelming! That is why I started watching some skincare tutorials on YT from dermatologists to find out what is truly needed.

I’m 63 and don’t have any wrinkles. I have been using Everyone Lotion for years. I usually buy mine at Walmart.

My arms started getting a bit crepey a few years back and this lotion put an end to it. I use it several times a day.

Everyone Lotion is natural, vegan and has organic ingredients. Best of all, it’s cheap and smells great!

Their liquid soap is wonderful too I don’t use any other skin care products.

I think facial exercises also help.
