My gosh! Thank you so much for the warning. I use an old ball sporadically - I am going to get rid of it. Sending healing energy to you!

Wow, I’m so sorry! Thank you for the heads up! My ball is quite new, but I’ll sure keep that in mind. (((Hugs))), take care, & I hope you heal well!

I am really, really sorry this happened to you. I remember people sharing stories here about balls bursting years ago, and I've been worried about that ever since. I hope your surgery and recovery go very well. Thank you for sharing with us/warning us.

I am so sorry this happened to you and I hope you heal up quickly. Thanks for posting and letting us know to be careful.
I am careful when it comes to bands and always wear safety glasses when I am using bands for fear one will snap and hit me in the eye, but I have not thought about the stability ball. Mine is pretty old and also "anti-burst." I am also going to think about replacing.

I have a Perform Better Stability ball and I just went to the website and interestingly, I noticed that they recommend only using stability ball for bodyweight exercises.

WARNING: Read Instruction Sheet, including safety precautions and inflation instructions, prior to use. The ball can burst, and serious injury may result if the ball is over inflated, becomes cut or otherwise damaged, or is used while lifting weights. Examine the ball carefully for blemishes or cuts before each use.

Good to know.

I don't think it is the age of the ball.
The only one that burst under me was rather new and came as part of an expensive set.
I have rarely used a ball since and have several much older.

So sorry to hear about your injury. Thankfully it was only your wrist and it can be fixed. Heal up soon, I hope your recovery comes along fine.

I was using my ball today on chest work too. It's always in the back of my mind that this could happen. I have 2 benches and was a little too lazy to get them out. I will get them out now!

Thank you for the warning! I hope your surgery goes well and wish you a speedy recovery!

My feeling is that even what we think is a "new" ball that we've just purchased, may have been sitting in a warehouse or on a shelf too long. Stability balls aren't exactly flying off the shelves. How do we know a new one would be safe to use?

It's so scary to think this could happen to anyone.
