Call me crazy, but the few times I watched the original show I found it to be the worst kind of loathsome, sadistic exploitation. Yuck!

I watched it too and made a comment to my hubby that really they don't have to show all the "puking". I have no clue who either trainer is and really the lady trainer to me thinks she knows how to train them because she was in their shoes at one time, which I think was only 3 years ago so I am sorry not sure how she is qualified (my opinion).

Is either trainer certified? I don't remember the names so not sure.

One thing I noticed is they brought in the "Mind" aspect of it where they all sit in that room and talk. But otherwise looks like the same old, same old, unless differences have been made behind the scenes?

My other question is why do they have to bring in people who have such "sad" stories and when they talk about themselves they seem to always end up crying. I hate this. If they think this draws viewers in, I don't think it does. I sit there and say gee another one crying over where they are now because they always seem to blame their childhood or parents or this or that. sorry for the rant.

I won't call you crazy! I've never liked the idea of the show, and apparently the newest version hasn't changed much. (The show would need to change drastically to interest me: I wouldn't watch even a supposedly gentler version that was still based on competitive weight loss.)

Maybe I'm cynical, but I wonder if such a show would receive higher ratings than Fat People Vomiting. Maybe what I'm finding online about the new show is consistently negative and consistently says that not much has changed, but the older show wouldn't have aired for over a decade if people didn't watch.

There was a show we used to watch years ago about folks trying to achieve fitness and weight-loss goals. One guy was determined to run a Volkslauf Mud Run and succeeded. It was so inspirational that my DH sought out the local Volkslauf Run and ran it several times. I wish I could remember the name of that show!

I like inspiring, not weight loss torture-porn.

There was a weight loss show on a cable channel that actual showed sensible exercise and weight loss. Of course I cannot remember the network or name of the show It was not on very long since it wasn't dramatic enough, I guess.

Ugh, I'm sorry to hear the "new" show is no better than the old. I haven't watched it yet, and now it seems I don't have to bother.

I have mixed feelings about the revamped version. I like that there is a coach who has been overweight and can sympathize with the contestants. But I wish there was more educational material, like food preparation and how to make healthier food choices.

I'll keep watching and hoping it gets better!

If they do that, I hope it is not all product placement like it used to be. How many times did they push Jennie O turkey and Subway
