It is disheartening to learn that much of what has historically been reported is not true or not the complete truth. I check several sources now.

These shows are so demeaning to people - it gives me the same feeling as when I think about dog or cock-fighting. Although weight loss may be more defensible than fighting, it's still voyeuristic viewing of pain, suffering and overall humiliation for entertainment purposes. Not to mention an inherent belief that worth is a function of appearance. Not a fan. Anne Y

I wouldn't compare TBL and other shows like it to dog or cock fighting because these people do willingly sign up for the show. Whereas the animals, obviously, do not.

But I do agree with your point about voyeurism. Although, I supposed, a lot of reality show (oops I mean "reality" shows) would likely fall under than umbrella.
