Instructors who have photoshop muscles added for all their covers
Instructors w/ poor form. Backgrounders w/ terrible form. Instructors who criticize other forms of exercise besides their own. Not enough reps. Excessively choreographed warm ups. Faking that it's really hard to lift that 3-5 lb weight for the 8th time Excessive set up time Throwing too much in a 30 min. workout (long warm up! cardio! abs! upper body! lower body! long cool down!) Nothing gets worked. Split routines. Excessive upper body work & not enough lower & calling it a full body workout. Mystical yoga talk. (I can't "feel the earth" as I'm on carpet on the 2nd floor of my house.) Breathy or babyish voices. Dvds that lie about the length (they're shorter than they claim) That's all I can think of now. Complex choreo
Dark set Too much equipment (I blame KB's for this recent intolerance)

You're all making great points and I agree with a lot of them.
But I must be getting old because my #1 reason for rejecting a workout is unsafe exercises -- or even safe exercises done improperly or too fast. I won't even touch those!

I like insptructor that Act like a trainer, not a comedian....
Complex Choreography
Too much equipment No music, I like some music but not too loud A frantic pace like Turbo fire, I hate this workouts. I hate the dancy, sexy, moves, and I am a good dancer but I hate them in a workout. Too much talking about stupid things, keep it relevant, give me tips on form. Too much high impact, I am trying to save my knees. I don't like instructors showing off their fake breasts |

-Selling supplements along with the workouts (think BB)
-Recycled music (think Leslie) -Strech as a warm-up -Complex choreography. I have no time and patience to learn it. ETA: no mirror cuing. I think that's just being lazy on part of the instructor.

• Personality/voice. If an instructor is loud, rude, or they seem mean, I don't want anything to do with them. I also can't stand squeaky voices.
• Complicated choreography. I also don't like compound moves very much. • The type of workout. Example: I know from experience that I don't click with Yoga at all. To keep trying to find a Yoga DVD that I might enjoy would just be a waste of money. Been there, done that. • Length. I won't buy workouts that are longer than an hour unless there are pre-mix options. I want to get in and out in 20-50 minutes. |

Bad music/no music
Tons of equipment needed or requires exotic equipment that I don't want to purchase Instructors who try to act tough, use a lot of street slang/catchphrases etc. Dark, dreary sets "No pain no gain" attitude, no fun factor Pretentious yoga instructors No modifications given Instructors who sound scripted or robotic Boring moves with nothing fresh to offer Poor production values |
