Best:
1. IPod shuffle — My bf bought me this for Valentine's Day. It's the size of a postage stamp and weighs nothing. Doesn't get in the way of working out at all, and it makes going to the gym much less boring.
2. Dumbbells
3. Yoga mat
4. Little home-sized step — I don't do step very much, and it was only $25 and came with Cathe's Basic Step video.
5. Adjustable ankle weights — Great for floor work.

Worst:
Weight-lifting gloves — These hurt my hands more than weight lifting does!

Don't use:
Resistance bands and stability ball — I have hardly any videos that use them, and I don't really know how to use them myself.

Favorite:
1. Reebok step. Bought in 1991, no signs of wearing out (despite near-constant use)
2. My stability ball. WOW this shook up my training.
3. My purple Manduka yoga mat. What a difference from the wai lana piece of plastic I used to use!
4. Bosu. A relatively new addition, but a fun core challenge and a nice change of pace for cardio.
5. ITunes Shuffle. Perfect for running.

Least favorite/least used:
1. Rebounder. It's been sitting in my closet for 4 years.
2. Foam roller. I was so excited... but a tennis ball works just as well.
3. Firm sculpting stick. We all know why .
4. Yoga wedge and yoga shoulderstand foam blocks-- I'd have been better off buying a couple good yoga blankets!
5. Tubing. It scares me; I know one of these days I'll thwack myself in the face by accidentally letting go of one end.

Honorable mention:
- Gliding disks... not used a lot, but I really like them...
- Medicine balls... another really fun addition ...
- My all-cotton, well-made yoga strap. Not only great for yoga, but also a big help for post-w/o stretches.

Best (and by best, I mean I am totally, completely, hopelessly in love with the following items )

Fluidity Barre
Rollerblades
iPod Nano

Worst (In my defense, these were purchased before I discovered VF.)

Billy Bands - UGH! HATED these!
Home Step - Used it a lot when I got it but I've decided that I don't really like doing step at home.

Too many!

I have so many that I MUST have, and it is very hard to narrow them down to the top 5. I'll pick those that I use most regularly.

BEST:
1. Club step - I have had it for nearly 15 years. It's great as a step, a seat and a weight bench.
2. Treadmill - I wouldn't have said this before 3 years ago, but with Cardio Coach, I now NEED it.
3. 3 lb to 35 lb dumbbells - I can do without a barbell, but I use my dumbbells almost every day.
4. Coolmax headband - I never exercise without it.
5. Pullup station - P90X!!!

WORST:
1. 3 Bodybars (18/9/4 lbs) - I rarely use them for anything. I'd sell them if they were easy to ship.
2. 8 lb medicine ball - I can easily hold a dumbbell for the few exercises that I have used this.
3. 10 lb ankle weights - What was I thinking?
4. 40 lb weighted vest - Again, what was I thinking????
Can't think of anything else, but that's probably because I've gotten rid of the absolute worst over the years!

Edited to add to the WORST, now that I saw it on another list:
REBOUNDER! I hated it!

My Best:

1. My Reebok Step-- I, too, got mine in 1990 and it is still in great shape
2. My Ipod
3. My Transfirmer
4. Fanny lifter-- I know some have had bad experiences with this, but so far, I've been able to use it for more than just the FIrm vids, and it doesn't take up much space.
5. A good sticky yoga mat

My Worst:

1. The sculpting stick from BSS2. What a useless piece of poo.
2. The Buns of Steel step that I got in 1994. It broke in 2 during a workout a few months later
3. Ab Wheel.

Best

1. Bosu
2. Road bike
3. Spinning bike
4. iPod
5. Dumbbells

Worst - I don't really think that I have any either. I agree with Shelley, I use some equipment a lot less, but I don't regret purchasing them and I am glad that I have them.

The best for me, in no particular order, are
1 Treadmill
2 Supreme Pilates
3 Transfirmer
4 Reebok Step
5 Dumbbells
6 Nice heavy duty padded weight bench I am too tall to use the Transfirmer on incline for weight work.
7 HRM

I know that's more than 5.

Stuff I like, but I don't use too much

1 New Sculpting Stick. So much better than the original
2 Pilates ring
3 Stability ball
4 Weighted balls

Stuff I don't like, and don't use much.
1 Tubing
2 Old 8 lb Sculpting Stick.

To Sandy M--I bought 2 body bars off the YaYas forum. The seller shipped them to me using UPS and the cost wasn't exorbitant. I think basically I paid in shipping what I would have paid in tax if I had bought them in a store....which wasn't an option, since they aren't carried in any of my local stores any more.

I have to admit that I don't use them terribly often, but for the times that I do use them, I'm glad to have them.

I've found alternate uses for almost all my equipment that I didn't like for original purposes...I use pushup grips for tricep dips (hate them for pushups) for instance.

Five best:
1) Step (even though I rarely do stepping, use for strength training)
2) Free weights, bars and dumbbells
3) non-slip floor pad (those black puzzlebox squares)
4) Sticky mat
5) Big ball.

Five worst:
1) Elliptical trainer
2) Weighted Reebock yoga ball (got it because it was irresistibly squishy)
3) Balls that are too small to do much with even though they are supposed to be the right size for my height
4) Cheap jumproap (nice jumproap is in line for "best")
5) Yoga blocks...just because I haven't used them much. When their purpose in my life reveals itself, they'll move up to the best list.
