hi CS/essentrics experts!

I'm trying to decide on Body Sculpting 1 or 2 - anyone have a recommendation?

I have miranda's older dvd with the 30 minute workouts. I like it but would like to have more 30 min options.

TIA

I also have to agree with Jackie that the new instructors are amazing when it comes to cueing. Their cueing and their form pointers are so much better than Miranda's that sometimes it's hard to to believe that Miranda is the originator of the program.
I agree. I love Miranda as well. I can get by with her cueing mishaps. It's like I get it so I keep going. She is so cute when she messes up too cause she knows it. But her knowledge is so valuable. If cueing etc is super important, agree, go to the other instructors.

It didn't take me long to catch on and once I tried it I was hooked. It just makes me feel so good. To be honest, I had to do some of Sahra's in the beginning to figure a few things out but that's ok.

My vote is 2 also.

I'm much closer to Miranda's age than the others, but I can't take her.

I probably like BS #1 next, and the Full Body Toning 3rd.

I really wish they didn't count most every rep though.

Here's what I'm thinking of getting:

Season 9
Full Body Toning (Sahra)
Essentrics Body Sculpting Series Vol. 2 (Amanda, Gail, Meg)

Thoughts? Feedback?

I haven't been loving Seasons 11 & 12 (except for the iguana appearance--I did love that, but that's not a good reason to buy the whole season). An episode from Season 12 I did yesterday afternoon has left me with an achy back, and I'm not sure why. A couple months ago (I've been at the mercy of what's on my PBS stations--all of which are running a lot of Season 12 right now), Season 9 was kicking my butt and I was feeling great, so that's why I'm leaning that way. Then again, I liked Season 10 (I was a little more sporadic when this was on), too, and I hate going to get a chair in the middle of the workout (or worse, kicking a chair I've prepared ahead of time, which inevitably happens).

The other two I've chosen almost at random. I liked the set in the clips of Full Body Toning, but the clips have loud music and quiet Sahra--can someone confirm that that's a quirk of the way the clips were edited and not how the entire DVD sounds?

As for the one with the other instructors, I like that they give reminders to engage the abs (I need that reminder). Is there any reason NOT to start with Volume 2? Is there even a volume 1? Does Volume 2 mean it's more advanced?

I freely admit I just looked at instructors and picked one by Sahra and one by the others (since I've heard they're good).

Apologies for my ramblings here. If I'm headed in the wrong way (or if you have different favorites), please let me know! I appreciate all mini-reviews, comments, jokes...

BSS1 is good, but I prefer the newer workouts so I’d chose BSS2.

I have all of those, haven’t done season 9 for ages. Full Body Toning is pretty much identical to the workout that came out with the old level 1 teacher training package. I still teach it occasionally with a few minor mods. It’s definitely a workout, faster pace & more intense that the later Essentrics workouts. The method has evolved a lot since season 9 & FBT. I really like BSS 2....the cuing is excellent, the pace is moderate, and the trademarks are lovely.

Volume 1 is the Body Sculpting Series - It doesn't have a #. It has 3 30 minute sessions all by Sahra. It is filmed at the beach in Jamaica.

You can start with #2 as it is just different sessions. #1 actually has a longer Arms and floorwork leg sessions.

I'd totally go with the newer workouts and seasons. The method has evolved quite a bit.

Yes, I feel the same.
