How do really uncoordinated people become background exercisers?

I was thinking about this when I did Jenny Ford’s Marching with Moves workout today. The male background exerciser was having a terrible time coordinating his arms and legs. I wonder if people just get invited to participate without the instructor knowing if they can follow along or not or maybe they think having someone uncoordinated in the workout will make the home exerciser feel less intimidated?

Well, in cases like that, I assume they're friends or family -- not paid professionals. As someone who's coordination-challenged, I do appreciate seeing others fumble a bit now and then.

It's a relief knowing others struggle for me as well

This is exactly why I watch Brenda when doing a Cathe workout that’s particularly difficult. Girl can’t do a tuck jump and I’m with her all the way!!

That's why I watch Marlo! People get mad at her for phoning it in sometimes but I'm like, "giiiirrrl, same" lol! Sometimes it's okay to phone it in on a few reps. You showed up. I watch Brenda too, because sometimes it's good to watch people who are less than perfect. She's strong as heck, but even doing sidesteps she looks like Marmaduke -- a little clunky, too tall in a shortie world. I mean this with all admiration, as I'm sure I look like Brenda when I'm doing sidesteps too lol!

When I read the title of this thread I thought about the male exerciser from Jenny's Checkout Workout. Imagine my surprise when I opened the thread and that was who you were talking about! LOL! My guess he is a friend or family.

I've seen some workouts where there has obviously been little to no rehearsal of the moves. The background exercisers are having to wing it. Aaron Lankford's PowerKicks, for example.

Or, some instructors can't cue their way out of a wet paper bag. I remember one workout (can't remember the instructor) that had consummate background exerciser, Robin. (She was in some Kathy Smith and other videos back in the day.)

In the video, the instructor's cueing was so bad that Robin went the wrong way and bumped into the other befuddled background exercisers more than once. That will make a person who is not uncoordinated, look uncoordinated.

I am appallingly bad at even the easiest choreography. I took a RAMP class with Gin Miller at a convention. Her cueing was excellent. My brain was not. Thank heavens there was a lot of room between exercisers because I was a danger to myself and others, LOL!
