Woo-hoo, I just got the shipping notice. Jen, you are a miracle worker and I feel like running a lot of my complaints past you just in case you have answers for them too. (Just kidding; I don't want to drive you off VF.) Thanks again!

Wow, REI, huh? Cool beans! I wonder if making them available there has made the other online orders be pushed back? Maybe they're getting pressure from retailers to finally supply the dang things. It's been almost two years I think since they showed them off at electronics conventions. I wish the company had the deep pockets (or borrowing capacity or willingness to take on investors) to just crank out enough units to get them on shelves and spiffy up their web site already!

I'm not sure what the membership is about but REI is a normal retail store. You can shop online at REI.com. There are actual stores, too. Outdoorsy stuff, sporting goods, hiking, etc.

For $20 you can become a lifetime member and get special discounts and a small annual dividend. It probably took just a year or two to pay off for us, and we don't shop there too often. Seems worth it if you ever buy outdoorsy stuff, as Mary calls it. :-) DH likes some of the pants they sell, and they seem to last longer for him than most styles of men's pants.

ETA: got it today! It IS much smaller than the GWF.
