Hi! Also don't forget all the side to side moves, leg-ups, kick backs and upper body moves on the Leslie tapes (which I love). They certainly create a lot of intensity which compensates for wind resistance, hard surface, and forward motion of outdoor walking. I also use 8 pound weights, ankle weights, and on a good day like to jog instead of walk. I think these tapes are terrific for the choreographically challenged like myself and enjoy a straightforward workout indoors.
I actually walk 3 miles in less time than on the 3 mile walk tape.

I use the Leslie Sansone tapes for light days or for those times when I know I have to move and have no ambition. I find that when I wear my pedomitor when I do her 3 mile walk it is just a two mile for me, but I don`t think the kick backs and side steps register.
I also use the treadmill and find that when I walk outside diferent muscles seem to be used.
I also find that walking outside is harder than her tape, but you will benefit from both.
