How did you learn about VF?

Hoping to start some discussion. I remember reading about Video Fitness in magazines like Shape. I read a bunch of fitness magazines back then and I can’t recall the names of the others now, unfortunately. Anyway, I checked out the website more than once, but I just didn’t get the concept of a forum. It seemed stupid to me.

Then years later I think I was doing a web search for a workout and came upon VF again. I checked it out and realized what a gem it was. I lurked for many years and finally got the courage to post in 2010.

So, how and when did you discover Video Fitness?

I was searching for info on working out with a back injury back in 2006. There was a thread on VF that popped up on my search engine. The rest is history. Love this place!!!

I think I was searching for video reviews. I had stumbled upon The Bar Method on Collage's site (remember when Collage sold them?!) and was trying to find out about this "new thing" called Barre. VF is what I found (and I've been here about 10 years!)

There was a running thread from the Firm. I was not a firmie, I was a Joyce Vedral fan but that list was the only fitness one available at that time. It was more like a list than a forum. I forget the name of it. But someone mentioned a new website called Video Fitness and everyone was signing up.I lurked at first then decided to join in 2002. I've been an at home exerciser for over 30 years and VF has been a great resource for learning about new instructors.

Now I've got enough workouts to last me for the rest of my life, so I don't purchase as much as I used to.

Before 2001, VF had been, in some way, part of another site--the name of which I've now forgotten, heh, but which I'd recognize if I saw it. I'd reached that site through a link from some index page that's probably defunct by now, and I wouldn't be surprised if that site, too, is also defunct.

The site was otherwise mostly fitness articles, without any other forum that I could see. In one corner of the main navigation page, I noticed the reference to Video Fitness.

The button wasn't working, though. There was a note that VF was going through some type of transition that seemed to last for at least a few months. (So it is that I never saw VF as an active forum prior to the current version.) In late 2001, the various pages and forum were working as its own site.

hch, my menopausal memory is fuzzy, so thanks for clarifying the start of VF. I remember all that. Lately it takes some one else to jog my memory about most things. It seemed like it was up and running, but then she had to change servers and that took awhile. Or I might be thinking of something else entirely.

I have no idea how I learned about VF. It may have been from Collage which I visited regularly to look at the clips of fitness videos. That was before the youtube days. I read VF posts for several years before I became a member 12 years ago (I'm a reluctant joiner). I've probably visited VF every day since I joined and I appreciate all I've learned from fellow VFers. I also ended up with 200+ dvds in the process, but no regrets!

I learned about it through Cathe’s forums...although it took me a while to figure out what “VF” was and then I lurked a year or so before joining (just as I’d lurked on Cathe’s forum a while before joining).

I had been receiving the collage catalog for a number of years before I ever stumbled on VF. I remember doing some searching for reviews on the fluidity bar workouts and stumbling on VF then. That must have been 2005 because I bought the fluidity bar in early 2006. I lurked for a couple of years before I had anything to add to a VF conversation. When I found that I absolutely needed to respond to somebody's comment, I joined the f as a member

I also found it through Cathe's forums. I feel so cheated at not finding it earlier.
