music on the new cathe series

So there has been a lot of conversations going about the music in this new series. I honestly don't know if I would have noticed it had I not read about it. I like to have music that moves me but I honestly don't hear it sometimes. My question is this,

Why would she change the lyrics?

She has never done it before. She has used popular music in other series and the words didn't change. I guess I am just curious at this point. Please, someone have the answer!

She says due to money...that it is too expensive to use the actual lyrics.

I was wondering if that was the reason. Thanks!

Those pseudo-lyrics are distracting to me. The music/no vocals option is my default audio option these days.

She's been doing it for awhile. Intensity has faked lyrics and I think the sash series does too.

For some reason it stands out so much more so in this set of workouts. It's way more noticeable to me and I don't know why.

She kept the lyrics in the Bodyblast series.

Wouldn't there still be legal issues regarding keeping the music too?

I'm so confused.

I believe music licensing has changed since then. It is all a result of ipods, digital music, and even going back to Napster. It is much more expensive to license music now.

Here is Cathe's explanation of the music:

http://cathe.com/about-the-music-in-my-eight-new-videos

relevant paragraph (emphasis is mine):
Quote:
They first rewrite a new instrumental background for the selected songs and then create entirely new lyrics for each of these songs. Great care is taken to make sure the songs are in some ways recognizable yet still be different enough to be legally acceptable. Keeping it legal is hugely important and something we don’t take lightly at all. I know some people wonder why we just don’t use original artist music but the licensing/royaly fees are outrageously expensive and something that even if it were possible to do would costs millions of dollars on a project this size. So with that being explained, our choices are to create upbeat energetic soundalike music from the ground up or use abundantly available stockpile music which in my opinion sounds sort of like canned elevator music. Easy choice there!
For me, her solution is a good one. The only other acceptable solution for me is to use indie music. I need real songs with vocals and I don't care if I know the song or not. I hate working out to instrumentals only. I would prefer real songs, and some of the sound-a-likes don't work as well as others, but it is not a bad solution, imo.

Maybe because these workouts are less intense than Intensity, so you notice the lyrics more? When I'm doing all those power 15s in Intensity, they could shut the music off and I might not even notice
