I did a 55 minute Soul Sweat class, so that lifted my mood a little. I will try for some yoga later.

Hello ladies!! I have been a bit MIA this week just because it's been busy.
Tuesday I went to a program at my granddaughter's preschool and I was in HEAVEN! Nothing better than grandkids I tell ya!! It was a fun day.

So Tuesday I did not get any physical yoga in but I still meditated in the morning.

Yesterday I went back to Udaya and hit another one of Anna's classes called Planting the Seeds. It was a GREAT class where she kept layering on the poses. It was really good, a nice sweet flow that didn't go too fast and I just love how she kept adding on.

Today I may hit another one of her classes. I haven't decided yet but better quick as it's almost lunch.

I hope everyone stays well!! HUGS

We are quiet this week, hope all is well with everyone.

Today’s workouts:
~Taught Essentrics
~Ellen’s Ballet Sculpt - this was nice, 20 min and my arms & shoulders felt nicely worked
~Ellen’s Walk Refresh - this was not a fave, too repetitive, needed more variety
~1 hour of my favorite yin poses on my own

Kate - Your Udaya practices sound lovely! Yes, grandkids are the best....all the fun without the responsibility! We have our 6 year old granddaughter for 2 or 3 nights next week during spring break.

Sherry - Glad the dancing was a lift for you. It’s a trying time right now especially if the virus is close to home. We aren’t there yet, but I’m sure it’s coming.

Waves to all!

Hi everyone! I think the surgery went well Tuesday despite my being extremely anxious during the procedure. I didn't like being able to hear them talking because I heard things like "Didn't my assistant measure that [whatever it was] properly?" and "now how do I do this?" He asked me if I could see a red light, and I could not, and started panicking. Someone held my head and began moving it around and I could see red but was flipping because it was a big blur and then a dot and then had mist all around it. He said it was okay to see it like that. I could feel the lens going in. They were holding my arms down, I don't know if that's protocol or because I was panicking. I remember these big purple blobs and then an intense white light like the sun was right on my eye but then it was over. I kept asking "is something wrong? is something wrong?" and nobody would answer me. Though I did hear my doctor sternly say "isn't she getting propofol?"

I stayed on the couch resting Wednesday and Thursday. I'm waiting for the assistant to call me back because there is a little fluttering of light sometimes when I move my eye. Other than that, things are very good. I can see much better with distance in that eye. I'll be starting to tweak glasses scripts in a month.

Please don't let my experience scare you if you might need cataract surgery. I have anxiety issues. Everyone else I've talked to who had it said they had no problems. I think the disturbing questions and comments in the OR may be related to a new astigmatism correcting machine I agreed he could use on me. There was no pain, just me being a freak. I think they should have used way more sedative.

Hello to everyone. I haven't read much because my eyes are not liking the computer screen. (Curiously the phone screen is okay.) I hope you are all well - I'll check in soon.

Today’s workouts:
~ETV: CS 1306 Spinal Fascia - This was a good one, some very nice trademarks. Season 13 is looking good so far.
~Ellen’s Mighty Mat Pilates - I liked this one, not overly challenging, but nice

Hi Cyana! I hope the weekend brings you some R&R and time to catch your breath!

Pat - Glad you’re recovering & your vision has improved! I’d be freaked too if I was awake while someone was operating on my eyes! I will need my cataracts done at some point, although they are still in a very early stage.

Waves to all!

Hi,

Sorry for disappearing yesterday. Thursday night I had about 45 minutes sleep, and then woke up worrying because we had not heard from our son. He had been staying over his girlfriend's house 35 minutes away for a few nights. They had gone into Philly for a concert Thursday night (we were not thrilled, they could have gotten a refund) because it was the last show before they were shutting down. He was supposed to let us know when they got back to her house, and of course he forgot. I could not get back to sleep until almost 3 am and woke up at 6 am .That meant no workout on Friday.

This morning I could not settle into anything. I started a Soul Sweat with Chantal class, and did about 25 minutes of it. I stopped because I really disliked the music. Instead of her usual world music, she was using light jazz, which I did not find motivating at all. I switched to another class and did 25 minutes. I tried to do yoga, but my brain won't shut off. I will try to do it later.

I am frustrated because my knees have been kind of cranky. I think the longer dance cardio is bugging them. I did boxing earlier in the week, but that hurt my neck/shoulders. My recumbent bike hurts my knees. Sigh...I may switch to NIA or Barefoot dancer which is gentler than Soul Sweat and see if that helps.
Maybe I'll try kickboxing with more kicks than upper body work.

I think I need to keep the news off today. It is really getting to me. Our son works in retail, so I"m worried about him. He is wearing gloves and being careful, but it still worries me. His college is closed for spring break and switched to remote classes, so at least he won't be going there for awhile..

Pat, I do not blame you one bit for being anxious. I would totally be freaked out by any eye procedure and it's so much worse that you could hear what was going on! I hope you continue to improve-sending you hugs .

Pam, we now have 50 cases in NJ. One of them is from Princeton, which isn't far from me. The person apparently after not feeling well went to a dance party on Staten Island and to a function at a Princeton Hospital. Who knows how many people she could have exposed. Sigh.....Where is common sense?

Kate, your grandchildren give you so much joy! I miss that age-they are so sweet. Enjoy!!

Cyana, I hope you get plenty of time to relax.

I stocked up on groceries, but I am wondering about future supplies. We buy a lot of things in bulk anyway, so we should be okay for awhile. I did a bunch of batch cooking-I made steel cut oatmeal in the Instant pot, cooked apples and cinnamon in the crock pot, roasted a chicken(which I made into chicken noodle soup), made three kinds of roasted vegetables and of course baked chocolate chip cookies . I also made our son's favorite pasta dish-tortellini with pesto, chicken and sundried tomatoes. I shouldn't have to cook anything until Tuesday !

Have a great day. I am going to sink myself into mindless comedy reruns and absorbing books this weekend.....friends did invite us over, but they want to eat out, (they don't cook much) so we declined. We are not comfortable with eating out right now.

Sherry

Hello everyone! I'm continuing to improve but have not done any workouts or even yoga. Not out of restrictions but out of general malaise.

Yesterday I debated attending my nephew's calling hours then decided to do a run through. I told DH, who has bronchial issues, to stay home. It was a beautifully arranged event with a video of photos, a portrait etc., but I can take no more. I am not attending the event at the theater party suite today - I need it to be over and to move on.

After that I went to BJ's and the supermarket. I was absolutely appalled at people's behavior, from the honking and yelling in the parking lot to the shoving and jostling. I walked out empty handed. The supermarket folks had more human decency but the store was out of almost everything. I was able to get two rolls of fancy paper towels at the organic co-op and vegetables and Sambucol, but the teas had been ransacked there. We have no hand sanitizer or Clorox wipes so it will be bar soap, which fortunately I have plenty of, and Windex on paper towels. Thank goodness I picked up extra TP at BJ's last week.

Sherry, I'm sorry your son did that to you again. I've been texting mine daily to see how he is doing because he is traveling. We have more cases daily in CT, and a local day care just confirmed a case. They say children come through it okay but so many people will have been exposed now.

Hello everyone. I need to get off my rump and do something constructive. I think a nice beach walk will help.

Hello yoginis!

Today’s workouts:
~Neighborhood walk - cracked 10,000 steps for the first time in a while! I can finally wear shoes, woo hoo! I was getting tired of socks & sandals, lol, as it was too chilly to go barefoot.
~Ellen’s Yoga Tone - This was a very nice high rep/low weight workout with a yoga-ish feel.
~Low back, shoulder, & hip stretches on my own finishing with legs up the wall

Pat - It’s crazy how some people are acting over this whole covid19 thing. Our son posted an article about a couple who have profited over $30,000 from buying out cleaning products at several Costco stores and selling them at inflated prices on Amazon. Disgusting! We did a grocery run to a local store yesterday & it was quite civilized. I can see why your DH stayed home yesterday. We were supposed to go to a celebration of life today for a friend & there would be a significant crowd there. I wanted to go but DH dug his heels in and said no. I had a very bad virus last summer & he had to take me to the ER. He was terrified I was going to stop breathing. I have a history of asthma & ever since I had a bad virus after our Alaska cruise several years ago, I’m so susceptible to bronchitis.

Sherry - Ugh, I’m sorry your son didn’t call you, been there! I’m sure it was an innocent omission. Kids just have no idea how it impacts their parents....until they become parents themselves.

Waves to all!

Hi,

Pam, yes there was a yahoo article about two brothers who went around to stores and bought up 17,000 bottles of hand sanitizer and were selling it on Amazon. Amazon shut them down. So now there's all this hand sanitizer that people need, and these jerks have them sitting in their garage!

I think it's smart for you to stay home. Congrats on your steps and being able to wear shoes again-woo hoo!

Pat, that is scary about it being at a day care. I last went in a store Thursday. It was a little more crowded but not to crazy level. I think that started on Friday. A semi local VF friend is having trouble finding toilet paper. I told her I'd check for her at the stores near me tomorrow if she can't find any today.

We went to the post office and library yesterday. Our library may be closing soon. They shut down the study rooms and locked away most of the computers and are cleaning everything constantly. There are no activities or meetings there.

Workouts:

-Soul Sweat class with Lucy-55 minutes
-Yoga Upload Hip Opening class. I did 30 minutes of the 39 minutes. I am to fidgety to focus during yoga right now, so at least doing a half hour is something.

In some counties in Pennsylvania (we are near the state line where I live in NJ) they are ordering all the state run liquor stores to close on March 16th, and pretty much ordering non essential businesses to close. the gas stations, pharmacies and grocery stores in those counties can stay open. The casinos are closing there also. We will likely get the shopping overflow here since we are near the state line. I may run out for a few things (I want one extra carton of eggs) tomorrow, but otherwise I am staying in except for the post office to mail orders for our Amazon business. The stores near here are going to get ugly with overflow. My husband said those areas in PA will get really ugly with no casinos, sports, alcohol or non essential shopping. There will be so many people off from work and school. My son's girlfriend works for Ulta and her sister works for a salon, so they both have no work. It's awful.

I hope things get better soon. This is just bizarre.
