The workout itself was a blend of different styles.

I enjoyed the kickboxing, the weights, the ballet stuff, and I did not like the yoga style. I prefer my yoga to be done by Schiffman or Finn.

I will not do this one again - I would rather get more burn for my time (i.e. The floor work in Burn it up)

Instructor Comments:
I liked Violet. Her cueing sometimes could have been better, but she's friendly without being perky.

The background exercisers were a tad robotic. One of them had a perpetual smile which I found irritating.

My butt needs lots of work to keep it looking good, and this workout had everything that works for me in a 43 minute workout! The first segment is a warmup, then it has kickboxing, plyometrics, low weight/high rep squats and lunges, ballet/isometric/barre work, and yoga. The end stretch is great, as is the music and location (on the beach in Mexico).

Instructor Comments:
Fit, muscular, Australian accent

This workout is about 40 minutes long, and it incorporates several different types of training for your butt. There are kickboxing moves, traditional squats with weights, some yoga, and dance inspired moves, a la Lotte Berk or Barr method. The only equipment you will need are some weights and a mat. The weights will have to be pretty heavy in order to feel anything, because the reps are rather short and you move to different exercises quickly.

I have been acquiring a lot of exercise DVDs which give you routines that have a little bit of this and a little bit of that. It’s fine if you get bored quickly and want to try out different things, but I find it mildly irritating because I feel like I don’t get enough of anything - just a lot of sampling. This workout falls into those lines. I start to get into doing the kicks in the kickboxing section, but then it’s time to move on to doing squats in another section. I like to work a certain muscle group to exhaustion and then move on to the next. You don’t find that type of training in this workout.

There is also a five minute bonus ab workout included on this DVD. It’s okay, but it’s much like the rest of the DVD. You get a little sampling and before you know it, it’s time to move on.

Instructor Comments:
I like Violet as an instructor. She’s pleasant, and cues well. I know this has nothing to do with her, but there is an error in the weight focused section. There is a part where you hold weights at your side doing lunges. During the pulse section, only one leg is worked. It drives me mad when this happens on workouts! I can handle bad music, poor film quality, even background exercisers who can’t follow along, but please, PLEASE have the actual workout exercise both sides of the body equally!
