Progressive Power Yoga - The Sedona Experience: The Flow

A little about me. I have been doing Kundalini yoga for about 4 years. I gave up my vinyasa practice completely. Being middle-aged, I started gaining weight and decided I needed to kick it up a notch. This DVD is definitely for the intermediate/advanced yogi. No modifications are offered.

There are 5 people in the video. The class is outside on the red rocks of Sedona, AZ. Looks uncomfortable to me. Anyway, the students range from beginner to advanced. The class is a flow from chatturanga to down dog with triangle, crescent lunge, warrior 1, 2, 3, standing splits in between. The hardest thing I have every done is forward bend and grabbing big toe and raising leg and torso to standing hand to foot.
He does crow pose three times.

The strength of this DVD is the standing sequence. He does a lunge jump into warrior 1 that is pretty intense. It's lunge right foot forward, jump left foot forward right foot back, stand up in warrior 1, fold down to lunge and repeat. Whew!

Once he goes to the floor, nothing unusual: table top, pigeon, bridge, upward bow, shoulder stand (with and without hands) plow.

The weakness is the abs. Mark does not explain it very well and since the students were doing their own thing, I didn't know what was going on.

Pros: Good flow. Lasts only 50 minutes with a 10 minutes savasana.

Cons: Not good camera angles. Poor abs. Nothing is in voiceover, not even the savasana.

All in all, I'll add this in between my kundalini routines. It does make you sweat!

Instructor Comments:
Affable enough. Not as salty as Bryan Kest. Maybe because he is a family man.
