Walk Away the Pounds: Power MileLeslie Sansone
Year Released: 2001
Categories: Walking Aerobics
This workout is one of three Leslie titles that has just been re-released on dvd as the "Power Series." This is the shortest of the three, clocking in at just under 20 minutes. Leslie works out with two background exercisers on a white-toned, bright set with some interesting perspective lines on the floor.
I am quite experienced with Leslie's workouts. I am a perpetual intermediate who had trouble with choreography and Leslie has been one of the few useable cardio options for me. Lately I have been wearing a heart rate monitor and have found that I can stay in my zone with Leslie as long as I keep the arm movements big and modify up the impact sometimes. I am happy to make these small adjustments and I continue to enjoy Leslie's routines.
For a workout that claims to be Leslie's most intense mile ever, the sedate and gentle warm-up went on about two minutes too long. But Leslie ups the pace fairly quickly to a nice brisk speed. I was able to stay in my heart rate zone without having to modify up the impact as I often do in Leslie's other tapes. She adds in weights at about 1/3 through and I was happy to see more than just shoulder presses here. I remember an an arm swing and some biceps curls among other moves.
This is definately much more intense than the one-mile workouts from the Walk Away the Pounds kits. I had hesitated before buying it because I felt a mile was too short. But following a day where I had not yet gotten a workout in, did not have time for something long, and just wanted to have something respectable to log, I purchased this on impulse and am pleased I did. It really IS an intense little routine. She brings in the weights quickly and keeps the pace high. 20 minutes later, it was done and I had burned 104 calories. I know that on my time-crunched days I will get good use out of this routine.
I really enjoy Leslie. She is very down to earth and motivating. I find all of her workouts manageable as far as the choreograpy and appreciate Leslie for making so many workouts I enjoy.
