Gliding Pro: Latin Dance Fiesta

Jeff Howard
Year Released: 2004

Categories: Floor Aerobics/Hi-Lo/Dance , Gliding Disks

I am not into Latin dance, but I really do enjoy my gliding discs, so I'm always on the lookout for workouts I can do with them. When I saw this workout, I hesitated because of the Latin dance part of it, but decided it was worth trying for the gliding disc workout part.

I liked the instructor, Jeff. He was pleasant and easy to follow. (He's by himself in this workout.) He started with a warm up with easy merengue type moves. Then, he moved into the body of the workout with three combinations based on merengue, salsa, and tango type moves. Latin dance enthusiasts might think that these moves aren't authentic enough as they were sort of those styles. But, they were a fun way to move with the gliding discs. Just as a warning, there were some moves that were quicker with the discs than I felt comfortable doing. You could tweak your knees with this workout.

The music was okay - appropriate to the workout and instrumental. The set was pretty plain - not bad, not great. I had no problems seeing the moves and the camera work was pretty good.

This is a fun workout that I thought I'd never do, so I'm not keeping it. I have a feeling that it is the kind of workout that will really click with a few, but not the masses.

Instructor Comments:
I liked him. He was encouraging and enthusiastic and moved at a good pace.
