Yoga Zone: Stretching for Flexibility

I love the first program let by Jean (only tried the 2nd program a couple of times and was too challenging for me - have others I like more for the time spent) I like doing the first program after a light/moderate cardio - it starts on the floor and pretty much stays there except for a downdog - so I don't start it until my heartrate has come down enough.

The poses in this are held a long time for a 20 min routine and they do stretch the lower body. you start seated with legs apart and twist then fold a leg in and bend over the stretched out leg and switch sides. some seated forward bends and I like her look and comment about Douglas being incredibly open and how we may never look like him but it's ok. she moves into cat stretches which I thought felt pretty good then to a long-held downdog where she goes on about being aware of our breath and how our feel will eventually reach the floor but maybe not today(I had to go down about 2x during this and stretch my back in child's pose). they go into a floor lunge front and to the side with an arm up then a kneeling blown palm variation the back on the toes where she says this may be an eye opener(it was!) then a final seated stretch and brief meditation pose or whatever it's called where you sit and put thumb and finger together.

I'm overweight and not into weights/strength training and definitely not flexible. I enjoy this but I've done enough yoga that I know how to modify so I didn't miss the lack of instruction in this area. I like the slower movements in this one and how long the poses are held.

the 2nd workout I just remember never finishing due to how hard I found it. Douglas leads this one and he is beyond flexible and also has a lot of strength. I think Suzanne demo's this one with him and I like her as demo-er - wish she'd gotten to lead one so I could hear her talk!

Instructor Comments:
1st program- I like Jean as an instructor- I found her look of amazement at Douglas' flexibility and some of her comments to be encouraging and non-intimidating. 2nd program - Douglas I like but didn't do all of the program so can't comment on his instruction.
