Step Reebok: The Video

Gin Miller
Year Released: 1992

Categories: Step Aerobics

Like some people, I found this tape to be boring at first. However, I quickly grew to love it! Since I use this strictly for the aerobics and skip the toning (I go to the gym for weight training and do this when I get home), I'll review it from that standpoint.

The aerobic section itself is 25 minutes long, with very basic choreography. However, it is deceptively challenging, depending on your fitness level. I'm always surprised by how quickly it becomes tougher! I think my fitness level is advanced beginner, so more experienced exercisers may not agree. Plus, I prefer simple choreography to intricate moves - I don't want to have to constantly think about where to put my feet - I just want to learn the moves and get down to business. For someone who prefers more complex choreography ala Cathe or Christy, they'd be bored to tears - but for me, it's fine.

Gin's cueing is flawless as usual - like one reviewer said, I could do this with my eyes closed, she cues so well.

The set seems to be an 'either you love it or hate it' kind of thing - personally, I find it quite engaging. And the music is FANTASTIC. I wish I could get the soundtrack to this - it would be great to work out to in the weight room!

The exercisers are also a plus - they aren't just thin, but FIT - some even look like pro athletes! I really appreciate this, because it's SO motivating - it's great to work out 'with' people who look like what I want to accomplish. That's something I like about all of Gin's videos that have background exercisers - they're very fit, not just skinny (though I'm sure to keep up with Gin at her level, especially in her advanced workouts, you'd have to be pretty fit! :)

Instructor Comments:
Gin Miller is an EXCELLENT instructor. Not only is her cueing flawless, but she always has modifcations so just about everyone can do her workouts, even in the more advanced ones. This way, the workout(s) grow with you as you advance to higher fitness levels (or, if you're already advanced, you can make it as challenging or not-so-challenging as you like).

I'll always buy Gin's workouts!
