Lynn's advanced workout arrived today. Her customer service gets a thumbs up from me! I did the first 35 minutes or so, up to the point where she goes down to the floor for leg work. She doesn't do a whole lot of standing leg work, so I worried that the legs might get short changed in this routine, but she covers quite a bit of territory with the floor work. Seems like you could heavy up on much of the upper body work, at least the exercises that use the large muscle groups. The standing leg work moves too quickly for heavy loads. I'm thinking I might be able to go as high as 30lbs (I used 20lbs. today). No push-ups, and only two sets of chest exercises (or three if you count the rib cage pull-overs), but the pace is nice and slow on these, and with the right weight, they could be challenging. Everything gets hit, even rotators, wrists, neck, and tibialis anterior. Lately, I'm suffering from some serious exercise attention deficit, so this workout couldn't have entered my life at a better time.
I like Lynn. She's perky, and I'll bet she hears that comment often. She refers to her audience as "ladies" and sometimes as "beautiful ladies", so if you're put off by stuff like that, steer clear. She's a little bit goofy, in a Gin Miller kind of way. She came across to me as being very sincere; I doubt her on screen persona is different from real life.
The production values are decent. The picture is clear, sound ok. I didn't pay too much attention to the music. More of a new age, world sound vibe than techno. When she goes to the floor, much of the picture frame includes the clutter of a wooden chair and the tray table that holds her hand weights. Since she uses neither the hand weights nor the chair after this point, it would have been better to remove them from the set, but that's a minor quibble. The DVD is not chaptered. That's a major flaw. I don't think, because of the one set format of this workout, that a chapter for every exercise would have worked here, but there is some logic to her progression, and she could have used that logic for chaptering.
Overall, I'm really happy with my purchase. Lynn sent me a personal email when I ordered and enclosed a note with my DVD asking for feedback. She's obviously eager to satisfy her customers. I will definitely keep an eye out for her future work.
Pleasant, encouraging, and down to earth.
