about the title. The author is a computer engineer and so it is a little
dry at times, but most of it is quite entertaining. True geeks will love
the spreadsheets.
Yes, this book does deal with dieting, but it also has a daily
15-minute exercise program based on the Royal Canadian Air Force
exercises. It was written so that those who wish can keep track of their
diet and exercise on the computer, and if you are not on Windows, or
don't like spreadsheets, he has the pencil and paper computations for
you. He does not want you to starve yourself, but simply create
The computer spreadsheets are there to make it easier for you to
plan your meals to keep under your calorie goals, and also to keep track
of where you are on the "exercise ladder", which starts with very low
levels of exercise and works up from there.
It is a little long to read, and I would advise printing or
downloading only what you need. According to his website, it could run
250 pages--no thanks!
If you like logbooks or graphs, and like to have other ways to gauge
your progress (besides your mirror and the fit of your clothes), this
is for you. And the price is right!
